Privacy Policy
Overview
Watch is a privacy-first TV show discovery and tracking application. Your privacy is our top priority. This policy explains how we handle your data.
Data Storage
All your data stays on your device. Watch stores your show list and preferences in your browser's IndexedDB—a local, client-side database. Nothing is sent to our servers or any external service.
- Your "My Shows" list
- Your viewing preferences
- Show ratings and notes (if added in the future)
External Services
Watch uses two external services, both for reading public data:
TV Maze API
We fetch show information (titles, descriptions, ratings, images) from the public TV Maze API. This is a read-only request with no user identification. TV Maze's privacy policy applies to their service.
Claude AI (Recommendations)
When you use the AI Recommendations feature, your selected show names are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate personalized recommendations. We use our own API key (never exposed to you). Show names are only used to generate recommendations and are not stored. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to their service.
What We Don't Do
- ❌ No user accounts or authentication required
- ❌ No tracking or analytics
- ❌ No cookies for identification
- ❌ No ads or advertisements
- ❌ No data sent to third parties (except as noted above)
- ❌ No profiling or behavioral analysis
Local Storage Details
Watch uses IndexedDB, a browser feature that stores data locally on your device. You have complete control:
- Your data persists until you clear browser storage
- Your data is not synced across devices
- Clearing browser storage deletes your data permanently
- No backups are stored anywhere
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Your continued use of Watch constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
